Emission Reduction and Compensation
Since 2021, Mach technology has been measuring and reducing energy use across its own operations (Scope 1 & 2). Full electrification of the production process, a gas-free facility in Rotterdam, and the purchase of green energy have already led to a significant reduction in emissions in recent years.
The remaining Scope 1 & 2 emissions, as well as those from commuting (part of Scope 3), are annually offset through contributions to certified climate projects such as the Katingan Mentaya Project.
Katingan Mentaya Project
The Katingan Mentaya Project in Indonesia focuses on the conservation and restoration of tropical peat swamp forests, helping to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. This project is Verra-certified, meaning it adheres to strict standards for carbon offsetting.
In addition to environmental impact, the Katingan Mentaya Project contributes to social improvements by providing local communities with better access to education, basic services, and infrastructure. It also protects vulnerable wildlife species and supports local women’s groups with microfinancing initiatives that promote economic independence.
